It’s the little things...
when children and their families are coming off the streets.
It is the little touches like a new tea kettle, a fresh bath towel,
a set of crisp sheets and a nice soap
that make a difference.

TWC (The Women's Circle) is committed to making a difference in the lives of single mothers and their children moving out of homelessness into their transitional shelters.
By enhancing their lives at a crucial time,  they are given a sense of dignity and self-worth.

TWC is an organization of volunteer women who are helping homeless children and their parents by furnishing their new housing with all the necessities we take for granted.

Our goal is to create an environment of love with the focus on dignity. Therefore, all items provided are new or like-new.

We work with services and housing organizations in our community, our present focus is with Venice Community Housing.

TWC buys and gathers new bedding, bathroom and kitchen supplies, two weeks of emergency food, clothes, shoes and age-appropriate books and toys for the children. Then, our volunteers install and decorate the apartment before the arrival of the family, transforming the bare shelter into a home.

When the children and their parents move into their permanent housing later on, they bring with them all the items provided by TWC.

The need in Los Angeles is great. There are currently 8,238 homeless families in Los Angeles, and many more teetering on the brink. Our organization is assisting service providers that are making a difference with these families. These agencies have a 96% rate of success, meaning that 96% of these formerly homeless families succeed and become self-sufficient.

TWC is approaching this problem in a unique way:

  • by comforting the families
  • by bringing awareness to family homelessness
  • by encouraging women in our community to participate in a hands-on way

TWC is a project of Community Partners
